In 2017, the Philippines recorded its first avian flu outbreak in Central Luzon. During this outbreak, the poultry and livestock industry lost PHP 179 million a day, including the slumping of farm gate prices of the commodities from PHP 70 per kilo to PHP 10-15 per kilo.
